Powertec Factory Visit
I have just come back from my tour of the Powertec factory in Shanghai. It was the experience of a life time! This was only my 2nd overseas trip. So going to Shanghai is really taking a jump in the deep end. I try to avoid the city centre in Sydney at peak times because I hate crowds. Well Shanghai makes Sydney look like a sleepy country town. The Powertec factory was much bigger than I expected and the photos do not fully show the scale of the operation. I should have got a photo of the lun Posted On: 26/08/2010 |

Power Matrix 3rd Principle Bench Press
Here is Dr Ro's Power Matrix 3rd Principle demonstrated on the Powertec Multi System leverage bench press. The beauty of this type of training is that you get an intense muscular workout but without over loading the joints. You only can lift a fraction of the weight you could lift in traditional set and rep formats. As I get older I find my joints simply ca't take the load they once could. You still should train heavy, but not as frequently as you did when you were younger. S Posted On: 29/09/2010 |

Introduction to the Powertec Multi System with Brad Turnbull
Brad Turnbull explains why he chose the Powertec Multi System. If the Powertec Multi System is good enough for Brad then it is going to satisfy nearly all serious weight trainers. Brad has been training for 17 years and has been runner up IFBB Mr Australia so he is a fair judge of the effectiveness of gym equipment. Brad uses the Powertec Multi System for his training as a competitive bodybuilder plus trains others with his personal training business. Leg Extensions on the Powertec Multi System
Brad goes through how to do leg extensions with correct form on the Powertec Multi System. You will notice that he does not use a lot of weight in this demonstration but goes to failure. If you are doing this exercise properly and effectively isolating the quads you will not need a lot of weight. Personally I was not a big fan of leg extensions until I recently started getting into specific bodybuilding training. One of the reasons why was because I used to get a lot knee pain. Leverage Rows on the Powertec Multi System
The Powertec Multi System does not have a traditional cable and pulley type seated row. It has a supported leverage row. Brad goes through how to perform this exercise and what rep and set combo works best. Posted On: 31/07/2008 |

Preacher Arm Curls on the Powertec Multi System
The preacher curl on the Powertec Multi System is one of the best bicep workouts around. The design of the preacher pad and movement of the lever arm really isolate the biceps. Brad goes through how to perform this exercise correctly and how to target the different sections of the bicep. There is also a great bicep workout that Brad has come up with - ideal for pumping up the guns before hitting the discos! You can use this video for the Powertec Curl Machine Accessory. Lunge Workout on the Powertec Compact Leg Sled
Here is a video of Brad going through a lunge workout on the Powertec Compact Leg Sled. This is a great way to recruit more muscle groups than performing a traditional leg press. I was never a huge fan of lunges and used to stick mainly to squats thinking these were the best for my legs. Squats are great but it is also good for the mind and body to incorporate a bit of variety into your weight training. Since lunges were a favourite with the women I also thought they were a bit soft. Lunges on the Powertec Compact Leg Sled

This video will be great for you blokes who are trying to convince the Minister of Finance to allocate funds to expand your gym. Brad goes through how to perform this exercise and how it really targets the glutes and hips - which will be music to her ears. Posted On: 25/07/2008 |

Quad Training on the Powertec Compact Leg Sled
The Powertec Compact Leg Sled is a great value machine to supplement your leg training. In this video Brad goes through different lifting techniques to target your quads. The Powertec Compact Leg Sled offers the pressing capabilities of a traditional 45 degree leg press at a fraction of the price and footprint. A good quality 45 degree leg press costs thousands and takes a load of space - a luxury not all of us can afford one exercise. Probably the biggest misconception I see with cust Posted On: 22/07/2008 |

Ivan Sadek - A Champion Effort from a Champion Bloke
My highlight of the IFBB Australian Pro Bodybuilding Grand Prix was the pro debut of Ivan Sadek. His 5th placing at his pro debut and to be on the same stage as Toney Freeman, Kai Greene and Silvio Samuel and not look out of place is a truly amazing effort. On top of that Ivan is a true gentleman and devoted family man. I had the privelege of meeting Ivan through a mutual friend some time ago. Despite looking like one mean dude, he is very approachable and loves to have a chat. We knew I Posted On: 18/04/2009 |

Book Review - The Complete Keys to Progress by John McCallum
People who are new or unfamiliar with weight training often assume that the only way to get big is to get on the roids. What they do't realize is that there were big units around before anyone even knew what steroids were. That is the reason I got myself a copy of the Complete Keys to Progress. Keys to Progress were a series of articles printed in the Strength and Health magazine in the US from 1965 to 1972. The aim of the articles is simple - getting big and strong. So how do you get big and Posted On: 28/07/2008 |
