"Something Special for Massive Loads"
You will see a lot of competitor’s racks claiming massive load capacities, some up to 4,000kgs! These are static tests and are irrelevant. You need to know what the rack can handle in use.
The ATX racks have been tested and certified by European standards using rigorous testing procedures. They will handle their claimed weight day in day out.
The ATX Commercial Racks are for the gym or studio who wants that something special. That is why we have dedicated a whole category to this range.
"The Devil is in the Detail"
The Barbarian Line racks have stood up to the harsh gym environments in strength facilities all around Australia. But the ATX racks are next level.
The racks and cages are made from 80mm x 80mm steel tube that have a 3mm wall thickness. Most of the competition use 75mm x 75mm.
So, you are probably asking what difference does an extra 5mm make?
While 99.95% of lifters will never test the limits of a 75mm x 75mm rack, making them suitable for nearly all applications, the ATX range just looks massive in comparison. That is where the extra 5mm really shows.

"Pimp up your Rack"
These racks just look mean! The range of attachments is a compliment to this build philosophy. They have all been designed for heavy lifting.
The downside of these ATX racks is that they are not suitable for facilities where they will be used by inexperienced lifters.
The attachments and spotter arms are heavy while being perfect for the experienced lifter, will be hard to manage for someone who hasn’t trained before. Assembly is definitely a two person job.
The big difference between the ATX racks and the competition is the design and finish. Any factory can bang out a power cage using thick steel, I mean some use even thicker steel. It doesn’t matter if they use solid steel. It won’t make up for a bad design.
A poorly designed rack may have a glaring weak point. The load or stress might be carried by some cheap grade bolts. The j-hooks might be held a by a small weld. Trust me I have spoken to many factories that make these power racks.
Some don’t know the first thing about training. They might not understand how much abuse j-hooks receive. ATX, on the other hand, has been designed in Germany specifically for the high-end European fitness market. They simply will not accept second-rate design.
Even the simplest design of the ATX range, the squat rack, will not move even under the heaviest loads. It is more stable than most commercial power racks. Features like laser cut numbers, while not essential are a very nice detail.
Unlike painted numbers, they will never wear off. They just look great too. All the j-hooks feature barbell protection. Not just sheets of material attached to the steel cups that you will see on lesser racks.
No, the Germanys have made a custom design. While most people would probably never notice this feature it is just reflection of the design philosophy. The variety offered in something as simple as a power rack is mind-blowing.
When I started in this game there was minimal variation in designs even by competitors. You certainly weren’t offered any variations. With strength training growing in popularity and diversity, the designs have followed suit.
It makes sense to offer customers variations, so they can tailor their power cage to their favored training style. ATX offer variations of j-hooks and spotters. Some will suit powerlifters. Some will suit the Crossfit crew. Others will work better in the gym environment.
You can add plate and barbell storage. Change the chin up bar. Best of all, the range of attachments and accessories is always expanding.
"Best in the World"
As ATX is a European brand, and Australia is more closely aligned to the US, this range does not have the same hype as some of the popular brands from the US. This range was designed to tackle these US brands in the European market.
That is another reason why they have gone for 80mm x 80mm steel tubing and introduced some many extra design elements. While the US brand racks are unbeatable value in the US market, in the Australian market they suffer from the tyranny of distance associated with importing gym equipment into this remote place.
I encourage you to go through specifications and features carefully of the competition. When comparing apples to apples I believe that the ATX racks can make a very strong claim to be the market leader.
