Barbarian Compact Commercial Cage in an Apartment!

Big thanks goes out to Rodney for sending in a picture of his new Barbarian Commercial Power Cage that is set up in his home gym. It is pretty cool that Rod has got himself a full commercial cage in his apartment. Just goes to show that the Barbarian truly is a compact power cage.

This is what Rod had to say about his new toy…..

“Hey Matt,

Firstly id like to say a huge thanks for being such a great sales rep, you knew your product, helped with the whole process and never pressured to buy – this is what sales should be! Hope you get a pay rise 🙂

Now the Barbarian Power Rack, what a beast! This thing is solid, very easy to build…I built it by myself in an hour or so, was too exhausted to do a workout review afterwards though. It has now been through a few hard workouts by me and a few friends, and WOW this is a great compact rack – its solid and doesn’t move.

If I had to buy a rack again this would be it! I cant fault this rack from the J-hooks to safety bars to the dip bars, every part works together. I will be ordering the high/low pulley in a few weeks to complete the rack which Im sure will be top quality as the rack itself…then will be after a bench.

Here are some pics of my apartment gym, ignore the crappy bench – its was a gift which will soon be replaced!

Thanks again, top product, top service, returning customer!

You will also note that Rod has one of our 185cm power rack barbells. These bars were made with Rod’s type of gym in mind. You can see from the picture above that the barbell has the required internal clearance for a power rack, but with the shorter sleeves you get a much more compact bar.

Rod needs this clearance, because just out of shot is a set of rubber hex dumbbells which are lurking fairly close to the cage. So a 7 footer would be out of the question, or become a big hassle to move around.

If years ago you had of said that you would comfortably fit a commercial cage in such a compact gym environment I would have scoffed. But being a European brand, Barbarian caters for the space restrictions offer experienced in many European cities. But as you can clearly gather from Rod’s testimony, being compact has not sacrificed any stability. This cage will not budge under the heaviest loads.

When the time comes, Rod can replace his “crappy” bench with a genuine commercial bench too. The old BB-9052 is a top quality compact commercial FID bench that will tie in nicely with his cage. It will take up even less space than his current bench and blow it off the park when it comes to stability.

Special mention for removal of the blades from the ceiling fan. Great idea by Rod! Plus great tip for young players looking to squeeze some quality gym equipment into their home gyms!
