What Happened to the ATX Rocket Series Collars?
The ATX Rocket Series collars were a re-design of the basic lock jaw barbell collar design. It included a few upgrades, listed in the features below.
The ATX® Rocket Series lockjaw collars feature a sleek design, quick locking system and a tight grip!
- Folding Press Mechanism – the easiest locking system ever! Simply push the collar against the weight plates and clamp it down.
- Locking Pin – a backup locking pin has been added to these collars to prevent it from opening up once the barbell is dropped.
- Rubber Inserts – made out of hard wearing rubber which provides a tight fit and prevents the plates from sliding.
- Easy to handle thanks to the streamlined design.
The reason ATX Rocket Series Collars have been withdrawn from the range is because the have been replaced. ATX introduced a new magnetic locking barbell collar. Despite being skinnier, this design has nearly the same amount of clamping surface as the Rocket collars.
Most importantly they have big advantage of being magnetic. This means that you can store them on your power rack or bench press.
Ironically the original lock jaw collars are still in the ATX range. Although we don’t stock the ATX version, our generic collars are massive sellers. Basically because they are great value. Gyms often purchase multiple pairs. Sadly gym members take collars frequently.
