Vulcanized Rubber
Manufacturing rubber tiles from recycled rubber and making them thicker with the hope that it will provide better shock absorption is equivalent to adding more horsepower to a car and hoping it will go faster. It’s effective to a certain point, but after that it stops providing additional support and is just a money sink.
The ATX® Shock Absorbing Plate is made out of vulcanized/solid rubber, which has the best possible wear resistance and shock absorption you could ask from a rubber tile.
Shock and Sound
Anyone can cut a slab of rubber to provide some sort of shock absorption and sound reduction. German Engineers took it a step further. These Vulcanized Rubber Dropping Plates come with an innovative honeycomb-shaped hollow chamber system. Which disperses the shock and greatly reduces the noise produced by dropped weights.
This system offers additional protection to your barbells and dumbbells.
Slip and Fire Resistant
Solid rubber already provides great resistance to slipping. To enhance this, the surface is covered in a hard-wearing, anti-slip pattern, making it safe to use in all environments.
They also use the S-1 Fire Retardant which corresponds to EN 13501-1 Certification. This might be a requirement for an insurance policy.
