Lee Priest – Hack Squat Form for Bodybuilding
We got Lee Priest to demonstrate the correct Hack Squat Form for bodybuilding. Who better to guide you than a man who has scaled the heights in bodybuilding, but most importantly a killer set of wheels! Best of all, when Lee teaches you hack squat form, it will be both simple and effective.
Hack Squat Foot Positioning
- The correct hack squat form will vary from person to person. Plus it will vary depending on the hack squat machine used.
- To determine your correct foot positioning start with little to no weight. This will allow you to adjust your feet to what is both comfortable and what hits the target muscle.
- Lee positions his feet roughly in the middle of the footplate. If you experience some knee pain, move them higher on the plate. If you don’t hit the quad, try lowering.
- Feet are not quite shoulder length apart. Feel free to adjust to what you feel is comfortable.
How Deep Do You Go?
- Lee recommends that you go parallel or a little bit under.
- If quad development is your goal, then stick to this range.
- Going deeper than parallel can lead to knee pain. Plus, Lee finds that past this depth you start working the Glutes and Hamstrings.
- If you want to target glutes and hamstrings – go deeper!
- When pressing up, try not to lock out your knees. This will keep the tension on your quads.
