Drop Sets with Adjustable Dumbbells

When I show customers the Ironmaster Quick Lock Dumbbells,  they often say “hey, but you ca’t do drop sets”. This is true to a point, but I would like to point out the following:– Once you get quick changing weights on the Ironmaster dumbbells you can drop weight in 20-30 seconds easily – about the same time it would take to go and get another pair of dumbbells off a rack.

Why not do the drop set with another exercise? For example if you were doing one arm dumbbell rows you could do the drop set with bent over barbell rows. This is the technique I used with great success doing the Body for Life program. – You can’t always do drop sets in a gym anyway. If you ever trained in a gym during peak times you are lucky to get the pair of dumbbells you are after, let alone get the pair of dumbbells you need for the drop sets. Drop Sets or the Stripping Method is just one technique you can use to increase intensity into your workout. There are many other techniques that can be used – the simplest being the rest pause method. When you have completed the last rep in your last set, instead of going for lighter dumbbells, have a 20 second rest and try and squeeze out another couple of reps with the same weight.

So don’t be put off by the fact that you can’t do drop sets with the Ironmaster dumbbells exactly like you can with fixed dumbbells. Training in a home gym environment will always present challenges. The fun part of weight training at home is coming up to solutions to these problems.
