Wow this is a solid 5 Star item.
I bought this as it offered a belt squat option to the IM2000, and if it worked well would remove the need to buy a dedicated belt squat, and further increase the use value of the IM2000.
I have had a few sessions on it now and WOW I AM IMPRESSED.
1. Ease of setup – It simply slides into place over the IM2000 barbell and you put the locking bolt into your desired height position. One minute setup MAX.
2. Position of Pull – I have used a few belt squats where the pull is more to the front than behind you which puts shear in the knees and just doesn’t feel right. The IM2000 Belt Squat pulls directly BELOW you and gives a true belt squat movement pattern. I was genuinely gobsmacked how good it felt.
3. Ease of use – It is simple to unrack and then you hold the IM2000 bar in place, which in turn also serves as an anchor point for you to brace on. I have seen videos of other people locking it into place, and squatting hands free with it which I am sure is an option too. Once done, you simply re-rack as usual.
4. Other exercises – I have had a play with standing calf raises on it and it worked just fine and made a nice change from the usual barbell digging into the neck.
Overall for the price of this and a belt to use with it, you can’t go wrong if you already have the IM2000. It is VERY well thought out and works VERY VERY well.
