L-PFD Powertec Leverage Pec Fly/Delt
It was a sad day when the Powertec Leverage Pec Fly/Delt was removed from their range. To prepare I purchased extras of this machine. In Australia we were able to still send these out many years after their 2008 production date. The reason I stocked up was because I knew these unique machines would always sell.
Given that these machines are a niche machine for a niche market, they never flew out the door. I imagine this is why Powertec discontinued them after the management change post-GFC. Their minimum production run quantity probably sat in inventory too long. This is just my guess.
Powertec Leverage Pec Fly/Delt Evolution
The old Powertec Leverage Pec Fly was the perfect machine for isolating the chest muscles. The angle of the back rest plus the range of motion puts you in the ideal position to work the pecs. It featured the super smooth resistance that is common to all the Powertec Leverage gym equipment. The Powertec Pec Fly was the ultimate way to finish off the chest muscles.
The new Powertec Leverage Pec Fly Delt has the same movement for chest now with the added rear deltoid exercise. There are many combined pec fly and rear delt machines on the market. A lot of these machines have cable set ups and are performed in the upright position. This Powertec Leverage Pec Fly Delt demonstrates the Powertec difference – simple and heavy duty design with the perfect movement.
The Powertec Leverage Pec Fly Delt is the perfect addition for anyone looking to take their weight training to a new level. Work the chest and shoulder muscles with some heavy pressing movements and then finish off these muscles with these isolation exercises. The Powertec Leverage Pec Fly Delt keeps you in the perfect position so you can maintain perfect form as you work to and beyond total muscle failure. A truly unique piece of weight training equipment. The ultimate machine for isolating the pecs with a dedicated movement to isolate the rear deltoids.
Flys & Leverage – Perfect Partners
Nailing the form on dumbbell pec flys can be tricky. The bio mechanics on the movement mean the resistance is declining as you near the top of the range. Whereas on a well designed pec fly you will have the resistance peaking at contraction. Leverage machines are ideal for this exercise.
That is why I campaigned long and hard for this machine to be re-instated. By upgrading the upholstery, grips and pull pins this machine would have been ready for commercial use. It already was in small scale gyms without issue.
Around this time the pec dec bubble had well and truly burst. For a small gym wanting to add a chest isolation exercise this was a perfect solution. The fact that it could do rear delts as well just made it more attractive.
After my years selling ATX and Barbarian commercial machines I can safely say there is a market for these light commercial machines. When I mean light, I don’t mean in terms of construction, it is more a reference to the cost. They are not as expensive as the high end machines. But they are much more durable than domestic machines.
